Ever wondered

where those cool wristbands come from? Well Margot has been rocking them unofficially for a couple of years now... this company is way more than just a wrist band company, these folks are passionate about Tennis and sharing the love of the sport, so it's an absolute honor to be officially representing them!

Press release shown below from WristpectSport.com

A tennis players journey is personal and varies individualistically from person to person but we find it interesting how tennis players journey's (plural) merge and meld into one story within this great sport!

Our tennis journey collided with Margot Carter's via social media (Instagram to be exact). Next thing we knew we were on the phone speaking to this wildly creative soul --complete with Brit accent --about her company (and app), Spherical Yellow!

The synergy between not only our mutual love of tennis but also our collective desire to bring the tennis community positivity through ideas, coaching and products, was undeniable! It was easy to make this collegiate and pro level tennis player a sponsored Wristpect Sport athlete!

Loving tennis and sports in her home in Winchester, England, Margot ended up in the states after being awarded a full tennis scholarship to Tennessee Tech University where she also completed her Bachelors of Science in Environmental Biology. Tennis didn't stop after college and it hasn't stopped to this day...

Hey Tennis Lovers!

As you all know SY gal in charge, Margot is patiently (or not so patiently) waiting for her interview with the US Embassy to get a new Visa.

We have been receiving many emails asking what the plan is for clinics this Summer. So, Summer Clinic times have been organised, and people are already signing up! So, please check the SHOP section for details on what will be on offer in your area, and shoot us an email to reserve your spots.

Serving Tip: Relax, Reach Up and Decelerate!

Hey everyone! Today's Tennis Tip is to help you have a smoother serve. Smoothness comes from a nice relaxed arm, and results in more power! Reaching up means you are using your full height and range of motion to gain power, and then importantly decelerating properly helps prevent injury to your forearm!

Enjoy, and check back in next week for your next tip!

Testing out Tabata Training!

For those of you that don't check Instagram a lot of our workouts get posted there in one form or another, either as a post or in the "Story".

It was in doing this that a funny message came through from a friend, "Hey look at you organizing Tabata workouts!" to which we said... what's that? Well, turns out we had been doing a form of Tabata with out even knowing it.

After this and some extensive Google searching, we found the true Tabata style, 4 rounds of exercises. Each round consists of 1 exercise only, 20 seconds high intensity, 10 seconds rest, 8 times. Pre warned that this was tough, we chose 4 TRX core exercises and knocked out 20 minutes of TRX Tabata. It is fair to say that muscles burned in ways we had not experienced in a while, and while it may feel like 20 minutes is a short workout, on a day when time is of the essence, it felt good to kick that out of the way and get on with life!

Tabata TRX Workout:

Each exercise 20 seconds high intensity, 10 seconds rest, repeat 8 times. followed by 1 minute rest and then move on to the next exercise!!

TRX Plank Jacks
TRX Mountain Climbers
TRX Side Plank (Punch through arms and alternate sides)
TRX Obliques (Knees together in to arm pit and out- alternate sides)
Then don't forget to pick a Prehab exercise to finish off!!

Let me know how it goes!!

Margot of Spherical Yellow attends the first USPTA U30 Conference

To set the scene for this conference, firstly a bit of an insight into the Tennis Coaching world today. This may not be valid for the entire planet, however, in my experience, which is mostly in the USA and UK, the world of Tennis and Tennis Coaching belongs to middle aged and older men. Many of these coaches draw on their High School and College playing experience alone to teach this sport.
